About Elaine Kerns
I received my Masters Degree in Social Work from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1995 and became a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) after completing two years of strenuous training and testing requirements. Prior to opening my private practice in 1999 I was an Adult Outpatient Therapist on staff at Carolinas Medical Center, Center for Mental Health. I have also worked with adolescents and their families in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg School System and have experience working with the older adults at a local retirement community.
Clinical Social Workers are the largest group of professionally trained mental health providers offering over 65 percent of counseling and psychotherapy services in the country. We have specialized knowledge, education, and experience in the areas of human behavior, psychology, and problem-solving. I see adults ages 18 and older and work with adolescents in the context of family therapy. I counsel couples in all stages of relationships, work with blended families, and see people of every race, ethnicity, and sexual orientation.
I hope to hear from you today to see if we can begin working together. I want you to feel comfortable with me and to trust that I will be able to understand you and your needs. If for any reason I am not the best person to help you, we can discuss other options, and I will be happy to make an appropriate referral. Please call me for a free telephone consultation or email me today. I look forward to talking with you.
